Maharashtra RTE Admission 2025 Date: Deadline for 25% Reserved Seats in Private Schools Extended Until March 10
Students selected under the Right to Education (RTE) scheme were initially given until February 28, 2025, to confirm their admissions. However, out of 10,429 students selected from Thane district in Maharashtra, only 5,113 have confirmed their admissions. The remaining students have yet to finalize their admission. According to the RTE website, the deadline has been extended until March 10 for those whose admissions are still pending.
The RTE admission process for the 2025-26 academic year began on January 14. Between January 14 and February 2, applications for RTE admissions were received from 25,774 students in Thane district. Of these, 10,429 students were selected for RTE admissions. Parents of these selected students were given time until February 28 to confirm their admissions. However, as per a report on the RTE website, only 5,113 students had been admitted by the end of February. This raises concerns about whether parents are neglecting the RTE admissions process.

The education department has stated that parents have been notified via SMS about the selection and admission confirmation process. However, many parents have reportedly ignored these messages, resulting in the delay in confirming admissions. To address this, the admission deadline has been extended to allow parents more time to complete the process. This extension has been communicated on the official RTE website.
Parents of eligible children on the selection list for the 2025-26 academic year will continue to receive SMS notifications. However, they are advised not to rely solely on SMS and to visit the RTE website to check the status of their application by entering their application number in the "Status of Application" tab. For those who have not yet confirmed their admission, the education department will contact parents via phone.
