Mango Season 2025: Devgad Hapus Leads Market Amid Climate Challenges, Ratnagiri Hapus in Short Supply

Mango production in the district has been impacted by climate change, leading to lower yields this year. Despite various challenges, mango growers have started sending their produce to the Vashi market in Navi Mumbai, where Devgad Hapus currently dominates. On Monday, 700 boxes were dispatched to Vashi, with only 1 percent consisting of Ratnagiri Hapus; the remainder was Devgad Hapus.

Hapus mangoes have endured several crises, including a prolonged monsoon and pest infestations, and are now arriving in the market. Of the 700 boxes sold in Vashi, just 1 percent were Ratnagiri Hapus, while the rest came from Sindhudurg district. Currently, box prices range from 8,000 to 10,000 rupees.

The Ratnagiri Hapus season is expected to begin on March 15, with increased arrivals anticipated until May 10, when more Ratnagiri Hapus is projected to be available. Farmers in Sindhudurg have successfully preserved their mango crop, allowing Hapus to maintain its dominance in the Devgad market, although prices have slightly declined this week compared to last.
