Mumbai: Comedian Munawar Faruqui Buys ₹6.09 Crore Luxury House in Wadala High-Rise
Stand-up comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner, Munawar Faruqui, has acquired a new apartment in a 40-storey tower located in Mumbai’s Wadala area. According to transaction documents reviewed by Square Yards, Faruqui bought the property in the upscale New Cuffe Parade for ₹6.09 crore. The apartment, part of the luxurious high-rise Lodha Aura, spans nearly 1,767 sq ft of built-up area and includes three parking spaces. The deal was finalized in September 2024.
The tower is currently under construction, being developed by Macrotech Developers Limited, part of the Lodha Group. Munawar paid ₹36.6 lakh in stamp duty and a registration fee of ₹30,000. The Lodha Aura offers both 3 BHK and 4 BHK apartments, and the Wadala area is known for its mix of residential and commercial spaces. Faruqui gained popularity on YouTube with videos such as "Dawood, Yamraaj & Aurat" (2020) and "Ghost Story" (2021) before branching into music with his song "Jawab," a collaboration with Spectra. He rose to further fame after winning the reality show Lock Upp in 2022, hosted by Kangana Ranaut, and later Bigg Boss 17 in 2024, hosted by Salman Khan.
Despite his success, Faruqui faced legal troubles when he was arrested in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on charges of hurting religious sentiments. The complaint, filed by a member of a right-wing group, alleged that Faruqui’s jokes targeted religious figures, although there was no written evidence. He was detained for several weeks and faced backlash, leading to the cancellation of several shows across India due to concerns over potential law and order disruptions.
