Mumbai, Maharashtra (April 21, 2025): Two people were killed and 12 others were injured in a multi-vehicle accident near Amrutanjan Bridge on the old Mumbai-Pune highway late Sunday night. The collision occurred around 11 p.m. when a speeding truck heading from Pune to Mumbai lost control while descending the Bor Ghat stretch and collided with five vehicles.
The truck hit an Innova, Ertiga, auto-rickshaw, Tata Punch, and a highway patrol vehicle. The crash resulted in the deaths of Nilesh Lagad and his 10-year-old daughter Shravi Lagad who were killed on the spot.
Four of the injured sustained serious injuries and were rushed to hospitals in Panvel, Khopoli, and Lonavala for treatment.
Upon receiving the report, highway police and teams from Lonavala and Khandala stations, along with volunteers from the Khopoli accident response unit, arrived at the scene. Emergency services including IRB patrol units, Devdoot teams, Maharashtra Security Force, Pavana, and Lokmanya Hospital ambulances, as well as Swamini ambulance services, assisted in rescuing and transporting the injured.
Traffic was briefly disrupted but resumed after the damaged vehicles were cleared from the highway.
