Mumbai Road Accident: 36-Year-Old Woman Dies in Collision with Speeding Bus in Virar; Husband Seriously Injured

A tragic accident occurred in Virar (East) on Monday around 4 p.m., when a woman, Rajshri Tambe, 36, died after the bike she was riding pillion on collided with a speeding private bus. Rajshri and her husband, Sachin (40), were on their way to pick up their two daughters from school when the crash took place near DMart in Manvelpada.

According to the police, Sachin was riding the bike with Rajshri pillion when the bus collided with them from the front. Rajshri succumbed to her injuries on the spot, while Sachin, who was severely injured, was rushed to the hospital by passersby.

The bus driver was arrested and charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and rash driving under section 106(1) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. The driver has been sent for a medical examination, confirmed the police.
