After receiving an email that a bomb would be planted at the Mantralaya in Mumbai on June 21, Hotel Taj, which now attracts tourists in the Colaba area, has also received a bomb threat call. Following this, a Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) of Colaba Police Station have reached Hotel Taj area and a search operation is underway. Sources said that three BDDS vehicles were rushed to the spot.

Hotel Taj was also targeted by terrorists in the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. Considering the seriousness of the call, a police team is conducting a search operation. The system is also working as there is also private security of Hotel Taj inside the hotel. Colaba police are investigating who made the anonymous call to plant a bomb at Hotel Taj.

A case was registered at the Marine Drive police station after receiving a threat e-mail to plant a bomb in Mantralaya. There were rumors of a bomb being planted in Mantralaya in May as well. An email threatening to plant a bomb in the Mantralaya had come from Pune. A 53-year-old man, upset over his child not getting admission to a school, sent an e-mail to the Maharashtra government on June 22 claiming a bomb was placed in the Mantralaya, which later turned out to be a hoax.

A man named Shailesh Shinde has been arrested by Mundhwa police in connection with the case. While investigating the matter, the police found the e-mail was sent from Pune, the official said, adding that Shinde was subsequently apprehended by Mundhwa police in Pune.
