Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi, a Muslim cleric, wrote a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah and asked him to ban the Chhaava movie claiming that it was inciting communal tensions and that the movie was also responsible for the Nagpur Violence.

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has placed tin sheets on two sides of the 18th-century building in response to right-wing parties' demands that the tomb of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb be removed from Sambhajinagar district of Maharashtra.
