OMICRON! South Africa returnee in Nashik tests covid positive; sample sent for genome sequencing

The first case of corona omicron virus is likely to be found in Nashik after report of a citizen from South Africa has come covid positive. Therefore, the concern of Nashik residents has increased. The patient is a man working for a private company in Mali, Africa. He had tested for covid three days ago. Now the report of this patient has been submitted to NIV Lab, Pune. People who came in contact with the patient are also being tested.

Three foreign nationals had arrived in Nashik two days ago for work in a big company in Nashik. One person who tested positive will be sent to the National Virology Research School in Pune for genome sequencing. It will then be clear if he has an omicron. The patient has been kept in a special isolation ward at Nashik Municipal Corporation's new Bitco Hospital. The other two citizens accompanying him are also being kept in isolation in the hotel where they are currently staying. The municipal corporation will also test the hotel employees who came in contact with the patient.
