More than 3 lakh new COVID-19 cases and over 2,000 deaths were reported in India on Thursday, a record-high since the pandemic broke out last year. As per the Union Health Ministry, as many as 3,14,835 new COVID-19 cases and 2,104 deaths were reported, taking the total cases to 1,59,30,965, including 22,91,428 active cases. The alarming spread of COVID-19 has led to shortage of oxygen cylinders in the hospitals, Remdesivir medicine, and bed in hospital. It also shows a lack of shortage of oxygen cylinders needed by patients suffering from severe respiratory problems due to corona. 

Amid the criis many have come forward to help the covid patients. Maharashtra is one of the worst affected states by covid in the country. Mumbai city is witnessing rapid increase in caes. A young man has given a helping hand to covid patients. Shahnawaz Sheikh from Mumbai sold his own SUV worth Rs 23 lakh to help the people and provide oxygen cylinders to the people. After which he i being called as Oxygen Man in Mumbai.

Shahnawaz Sheikh is working to deliver oxygen to Corona patients on a phone call. His team has set up a control room to help people. So that patients can get oxygen on time. In the first wave of corona last year, the wife of one of his friends was infected with corona. However, due to lack of oxygen in time, his friend's wife died in auto-rickshaw. This shocked Shahnawaz and he decided to work to save the lives of the people. Since then, he has been working to deliver oxygen to corona patients in Mumbai. Shahnawaz said he currently has 200 oxygen cylinders.


Shahnawaz sold his Ford Endeavor SUV worth Rs 23 lakh and bought 160 oxygen cylinders. He also rented 40 cylinders. In total, they currently have 200 oxygen cylinders. The situation is more difficult this year than last year. They were getting 50 calls for oxygen demand in January, while today they are getting 500 to 600 calls every day. But, unfortunately, now we are only able to reach 10 to 20 percent of the people, ”he said. Many benefited from his work during the first wave of the Corona. They are giving cylinders of oxygen to the needy. During the pandemic he had till now helped nearly 4,000 Covid patients with oxygen cylinders.
