Prominent industrialist and Dhule corporator Tapan Patel died in a tragic car accident . Patel injured himself after the engine of his Mercedes car exploded. Tapan Mukeshbhai Patel was a corporator of Shirpur in Dhule district. Patel was coming home around midnight when the mishap occured.  The engine of his Mercedes car exploded in front of Hotel Galaxy near  the highway. He was rushed to the municipal hospital by a highway service ambulance however he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. 

He was the son of the late Mukeshbhai Patel, a former Rajya Sabha MP, and the nephew of former Education Minister Amrishbhai Patel, Mayor Jayshreeben Patel and Deputy Mayor Bhupeshbhai Patel. He is survived by his mother, wife, and sons.He was elected as a corporator in Shirpur Municipality by a large majority. He was the President of Shirpur Textile Park, Trustee of Shri Vile Parle Kelvani Mandal, Vice President of Shirpur Education Society.
