In the youngest fatality to COVID-19 in Pune district till date, a 13-month-old old baby girl passed away on Sunday, along with five more fresh deaths in Pune city and Pimpri-Chinchwad.
The baby girl who succumbed to the infection hailed from Warje and was hospitalised at Sassoon Hospital on May 4; she also had a pulmonary haemorrhage secondary to acute respiratory distress syndrome with pneumonitis, megaloblastic anaemia, sepsis and severe acute malnutrition.
The death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 156 in the district, Pune Health Department said.
India's COVID-19 count crossed 60,000 on Sunday, with Maharashtra being the worst-affected State with 22,171 coronavirus cases, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
A total of 62,939 confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in India. 19,358 persons have recovered or migrated, the Ministry said on Sunday.
