A 42-year-old man was arrested by Pune police on Friday for making bomb threats to several locations in the city, including the Pimpri Chinchwad Railway Station, Bandra, Gateway of India, Shivajinagar, and Pune stations.
Police said the caller, Praveen Pandit Yeshi, a resident of Hadapsar, made the threats around 2:00 pm on Friday by dialing the emergency number "112." He claimed to be acting out of depression caused by family disputes.
Responding to the call, police teams immediately searched the mentioned locations but found no suspicious items. A technical analysis of Yeshi's phone number led them to his location in Hadapsar, where he was apprehended.
Yeshi was booked under sections 182(B), 506(2), 505(B), and 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for making false threats and causing public alarm. He was produced in court and remanded to police custody. The Bundagarden police are investigating further.
