Sangli Murder Case: Man Strangles Wife to Death Under Influence of Alcohol, Surrenders to Police

Mangesh Chandrakant Kamble, a resident of Mangale, has been arrested for allegedly strangling his wife, Prajakta, to death under the influence of alcohol. He later surrendered at the Shirala police station. According to police, Kamble, who works in Mumbai, had returned to his native village with his mother and brother four days ago.

On Thursday, while other family members were away attending an event, a heated argument broke out between him and Prajakta. In a fit of rage, he strangled her and concealed the body inside an iron electricity meter box.

The crime came to light after the couple’s six-year-old son, Shivam, raised an alarm. Following this, Kamble voluntarily appeared before the police. Authorities conducted a panchnama and handed over Prajakta’s body to her relatives after a post-mortem. Her last rites were performed in their native village, Kokrud, on Thursday night.

Police stated that Kamble confessed to the murder, citing suspicion over his wife's character as the motive. He was produced before the Shirala First-Class Judicial Magistrate and remanded to police custody for five days until April 1.
