Sanjay Raut: Munger firing incident is an attack on Hindutva
Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut has reacted over Munger firing incident in Bihar where a man was killed and many hurt in firing during Durga idol immersion. The Munger incident has taken political colour over the alleged police brutality.
Raut said,"Munger firing incident is an attack on Hindutva. If such an incident were to happen in Maharashtra, West Bengal or Rajasthan, governors & BJP leaders would have demanded President's rule. So, why is Bihar governor & BJP leaders not raising questions?"
A Durga Puja idol immersion effort ended in tragedy in Bihar's Munger on October 27. One person was killed and over two dozen others were injured in firing and stone-pelting, a day before the first phase of polling in the district.
Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav compared the police action in Munger with the Jallianwala Bagh incident, while the Congress demanded the dismissal of the Bihar government.
Use of minimum force by police to disperse the unruly mob; reasonable amount of force proportional to the resistance by mob is what is prescribed by CrPC. Prior to use of actual bullets, announcement of warning, followed by use of tear gas is the SOP, sadly not seen in #Mungerhttps://t.co/PdUKSaxaEr
