Hotels, food courts, restaurants & bars in the Maharashtra resumed dine-in services from today with 50% capacity after over six months of lockdown restrictions because of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.

Restaurants and hotels will have to adhere to several restrictions by following guidelines of the Maharashtra government that were issued last week.

Though it is nice restaurants can operate now in Maharashtra, we still have to resolve logistical challenges. So it seems about 30% restaurants will be able to start operations while others will resume from Oct end, said Pradeep Shetty, VP, Hotel & Restaurant Assn of Western India

"We have started after a very long time. It'll take a while for normalcy to return. We're taking precautions which the govt has prescribed," said a hotel owner.

The extensive guidelines for restaurant owners and diners include operating procedures for pre-booking of seats, Covid-19 hygiene while serving food and beverages, seating arrangements within restaurant premises, table etiquette, hospitality norms, entry-exit and washroom hygiene, norms for regular ventillation of premises and disinfection routines, digital or disposable paper menus, and Covid-19 appropriate behaviour for employees.
