NCP leader and Deputy CM of Maharashtra Ajit Pawar visited to Beed and met NCP workers on Wednesday. He asked party workers to keep their image clean and not to get their name linked to criminal elements. While talking to youth activists of NCP, Pawar stated that, "Keep your image clean and stay away from anti-social elements. Pawar who is also the guardian minister of Beed district made this statement in the background of the gruesome murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh and the arrest of Walmik Karad, who is reportedly a close associate of NCP leader Dhananjay Munde.
Pawar said, "A lesson will be taught to gangs which dominate the fly-ash collection business near thermal power stations, as well as sand and land mafia in Beed. People need to change their mindset." He said while admitting any member into the party, his credentials must be checked.
Maharashtra will be completing 62 years of statehood however their has not much development in eight districts of Marathwada including Beed, said Pawar during his speech. He emphasized the need to protect Beed's reputation, prevent caste divisions, and prioritize development. Pawar urged party workers to focus on social work (80%) over politics (20%). He concluded by stating the importance of moving forward and viewing the present as a fresh start.
