Navi Mumbai: The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has filed a police complaint against a dumper driver for allegedly dumping debris on land it has acquired or is in the process of acquiring. The incident occurred on the evening of March 27 in the Ulwe node, Navi Mumbai.

Large quantities of debris are being illegally dumped by dumper truck drivers, posing a serious threat to public health and the environment. In response, CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer, Suresh Mengde, launched a special operation in collaboration with the vigilance investigation team, security department, engineering department, and Navi Mumbai Police.

During the operation, two dumper trucks were intercepted near the MTHL Atal Setu, en route from Mumbai to Ulwe, Sector 12, around 6:30 PM. The drivers, identified as Ankit Rajesh Gautam (21) from Koliwada, GTB Nagar, Sion, Mumbai, and Kumar Saroj (37) from Janata Colony, Worli, Mumbai, were caught attempting to dump hazardous debris in the area.

Following the incident, a case was registered against both drivers at Nhava Sheva Police Station under Sections 271 and 62 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 on March 28.

CIDCO has urged citizens to report any illegal debris dumping within its jurisdiction via its official website, www.cidco.maharashtra.gov.in, or at the nearest police station.
