The Vande Bharat Express traveling from Goa to Mumbai was forced to stop near the Kherdi Railway Bridge due to an open railway gate at Kalambaste Fata, near Chiplun. The train came to a sudden halt when the gate was found open. After careful maneuvering, the train was slowly moved toward the gate, where it was manually closed. Once the gate was secured, the train continued its journey toward Mumbai.

This is the second such incident in the past 15 days. Fortunately, a major mishap was averted once again. The railway gate at Kalambaste, located on the Konkan Railway route, frequently causes delays, as it is closed for 10 to 20 minutes whenever a train passes. This forces commuters traveling to and from Pandheragav to wait. For years, there have been calls for the construction of an overbridge in the area, a demand that Konkan Railway has addressed, but the support of the state government is also crucial. Just eight days ago, a similar incident occurred due to a technical malfunction that left the gate open, causing significant disruption
