Nine candidates including Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray were elected unopposed to the state Legislative Council.

But still the senior leaders and former ministers Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Vinod Tawde, Pankaja Munde and Eknath Khadse of the Bharatiya Janata Party are upset over being denied tickets to the legislative council. None of these ministers who were aspiring to return to state council and seek political rehabilitation were considered by the state and central leadership of the BJP.

Senior BJP leader and former minister Eknath Khadse, expressed his displeasure on not being given the ticket. He also said that he would decide on his future political course once the COVID-19 situation normalises.

Vinod Tawde in an interview said that BJP appreciates both Pankaja Munde and Eknath Khadse's contribution towards the party. Being denied ticket for the state legislative council doesn't mean that party has ignored their work. During the Vidhan Sabha and Vidhan Parishad elections Devendra Fadnavis and Chandrakant Patil had tried their best to get Khadse a ticket.

So I don't think Fadnavis and Patil have a role to play in Khadse-Munde not getting the ticket. It is a pointer that central leadership had reasons to deny some of these senior leaders tickets and they justify it. Or else they would accommodate them in council, said Tawde.
