Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday broke his silence on allegations against his son Aaditya Thackeray in the Sushant Singh Rajput death case and said “we are clean”. Speaking at the Shiv Sena's annual Dussehra rally, the Chief Minister said, “A person who committed suicide is now a Bihar son. He may be, but because of him, you defamed sons of Maharashtra. You even maligned my son Aaditya.”“Those crying for justice for Bihar's son are indulging in character assassination of Maharashtra's son,” he said in a veiled attack at actor Kangana Ranaut who had dragged Aaditya’s name in Rajput’s death case.

Also referring to Kangana Ranaut’s Tweet, wherein the actress had compared Mumbai to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, CM Uddhav Thackeray stated, “Someone said Mumbai is like PoK... they come to Mumbai for work and then defame the city. This amounts to namak harami.” He also spoke about drug abuse and added, “A narrative has been painted to show that the entire city and the state is a drug haven. Everyone here is a drug addict. Any attempt to defame Mumbai and the state will be dealt with strictly.” Last month, Ranaut, who was involved in a bitter tiff with Shiv Sena leaders for comparing Mumbai with PoK, had accused Aaditya of hanging out with the “movie mafia, murderers of Sushant Singh Rajput and the connected drug racket”. In August, Aaditya, who is a tourism minister in the Maharashtra cabinet, had said he and his family are being targeted for no reason in the Rajput death case and asserted that he is nowhere related to the matter. The Shiv Sena leader had said dirty politics is being played following the death of the actor and added that the allegation being levelled is political stomach-ache stemming from frustration. The 30-year-old had also said he shares cordial rapport with many people from Bollywood and added that it is no crime. Rajput, 34, was found hanging at his apartment in suburban Bandra in Mumbai on June 14.
