On Monday, a post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) claimed that a bomb had been placed on an Indigo flight. As soon as the Mumbai Police received this information, they immediately went on high alert and carried out a thorough investigation of the flight. After a detailed search, nothing was found inside the flight, and the information was declared false. The Mumbai Police have registered an FIR at Sahar Police Station, and the Mumbai Crime Branch is also conducting a parallel investigation into the matter.
According to sources, the post was made from the X handle ID @fazluddin69 on Monday. The post stated that two flights at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai (Terminal 2) were under threat. These were Indigo Mumbai-Muscat Flight 6E1275 and Indigo Mumbai-Jeddah Flight 6E56. In addition, there was a claim that Air India Flight AI119 (Mumbai to New York) had six kilograms of RDX and six terrorists on board, threatening to blow up the aircraft.
Upon receiving this information, security agencies immediately began their investigation at the airport. After several hours of inspection, nothing suspicious was found, and the bomb threat was declared a hoax.
The police and security agencies thoroughly searched the flights but found no explosives or suspicious individuals. Following this, an FIR was registered at Sahar Police Station against the X handle user @fazluddin69 under sections 125, 353(1),(B), 351(4) of the BNS and under the Civil Aviation Security Act, 1982, for making unlawful claims.
