Many people are taking a break from their daily lives and traveling back to their native places or hometowns to celebrate Holi on March 14. Ahead of Holi, the Mumbai-Goa Highway witnessed a huge traffic jam.
There are two reasons behind this vehicular bottleneck on the highway:
- There was an increase in the number of vehicles taking that route as people were traveling towards the Konkan region ahead of the Holi celebrations.
- The ongoing construction work on the Mumbai-Goa Highway.

The construction work of Mumbai-Goa Highway, which was supposed to conclude by December 2024, is facing a delay. Now, the motorway is expected to open by 2026.
Shivendra Raje Bhosale, the minister of public works, recently examined the work progress of the highway and made the announcement. After conducting a comprehensive assessment of the length, the minister claimed to have issued directives to accelerate the highway's construction. The future highway experienced numerous delays for a variety of reasons, such as the collapse of a flyover in the Chiplun neighbourhood of Bahadur Sheikh and disagreements between contractors along the Sangameshwar-Lanja stretch. But the project officials said that these problems have already been resolved.
