A 19-year-old boy was taken into custody by the Mumbai police on April 2, Wednesday night, on suspicion of raping and killing a nine-year-old boy the day before near a cemetery. The police claimed that the accused raped the boy after luring him to a remote location close to the cemetery under the guise of providing him with food and toys. The accused allegedly attacked and strangled the victim after he began to yell, then left the scene. According to the police, the young boy, who lives in Mumbai, was led to a cemetery by the accused, a Bihar native.
The police said that the accused works at a godown in Thane. When he saw the nine-year-old wandering by himself outside a train station, he lured him to the isolated area. According to the minor's body injuries, the police speculated that he may have fought the alleged rape, which resulted in the accused physically abusing him.
After the dead body of the nine-year-old boy was found, the police sent it for post-mortem examination. An official FIR has been registered against the accused for raping the minor and then murdering him. Police checked the CCTV footage and, based on the evidence, arrested the accused. The officials said that they are checking if the accused has any criminal record or not, before this case. He was produced before the court on April 3, and remanded in police custody.
Cops also said that a forensic investigation team visited the spot. They have collected DNA samples and they will examine them.
