MSRDC To Increase Toll Rates on Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway From April 1
The toll on the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway will increase from April 1. Currently, commuters pay (Per kilometer wise) Rs 1.73 for light motor vehicles, Rs 2.79 for light motor commercial vehicles, Rs 5.85 for heavy vehicles having 2 axles, Rs 6.38 for heavy vehicles with 3 axles, Rs 9.18 for heavy construction machinery, and Rs 11.17 for oversized vehicles having seven or more axles. Now, the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will up this price by 20%.
According to the revised rate card, MSRDC will charge the following: (Per kilometer)
- Rs 2.06 will be levied on light motor vehicles,
- Rs 3.32 on light motor commercial vehicles,
- Rs 6.97 on heavy vehicles having two axles,
- Rs 7.60 on heavy vehicles with 3 axles,
- Rs 10.93 on heavy construction machinery, and
- Rs 13.30 on oversized vehicles having seven or more axles.
In 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first 520-km stretch between Nagpur and Shirdi. In May 2023, Former Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the 105-km part stretching from Shirdi to Bharvir. On March 4, another 25 km stretch between Bharvir and Igatpuri was opened to the public, leaving just the 76 km region up to Amane near Bhiwandi yet to be opened. At Amane, the Samruddhi Expressway connects with the under-construction Mumbai-Vadodara Expressway.
