Mumbai 1 Smart Card by SBI & MMRDA: How It Works, KYC Process & Recharge Tips

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has unveiled a new smart card called Mumbai 1, which will serve as one pass to all public transport in Mumbai, the financial centre of India. Within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), this could be utilised for various forms of public transit. Mumbai 1 is a single card that can be used to travel by Metro, Mono Rail, suburban local trains, and public transport vehicles. CM Fadnavis stated that the card's architecture will be ready in a month and that a launch is planned soon.

 

The Mumbai 1 Card was launched by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) and State Bank of India (SBI), the country's biggest state-owned institution. This co-branded card has stored value capabilities and is a contactless dual interface prepaid card that is based on an EMV chip. According to the Mumbai 1 Card page on the SBI website, "compartmentalisation of amount for different utilities such as transit, among others, is a unique feature of this State Bank Mumbai1 Card, which can be used for loading passes for metro as well as buses using the store value of the card."

 

Where to Get a Smart Card for Mumbai 1?

It is available for purchase at stations on MMRDA Metro Lines 2A and 7. Just go to the MMRDA Metro Line 2A or Line 7 station that is closest to you, and ask for the MUMBAI1 at the counter. Complete the easy application form and send it to the operator with your information. An OTP will be produced and delivered to the mobile number you gave in the application once the operator has entered your details. Pay the top-up amount to load the card's balance for use when the OTP has been validated.

 

Documents Needed for a Mumbai 1 Card:

You must go to the closest MMRDA Metro Line 2A or Line 7 metro station with your PAN and a self-declaration of one of the following in order to have the card issued. Document with Official Validity (OVD) Passport, voter ID, driver's license, NREGA job card, or any other document issued by the National Population Register with the name, address, and other details as notified by the Central Government after consulting with the Regulator; evidence that one has an Aadhaar number.

Mumbai 1 Card Complete KYC:

The cardholder must bring the original and a photocopy of their ID, address, PAN card, or Form 60, and a passport-sized photo to the specified branches in order to convert their minimum details card to a full KYC card. To convert their Minimum Details Card to a Full KYC card, the consumer must complete the application. The chosen branches will supply the form.

Mumbai 1 Card Recharge:


According to the SBI website, the card issuance charge is NIL, and the maximum total chip balance limit is Rs 2000. The reload and top-up cost is nothing. The smart card requires no annual maintenance fees. Replacing the card would cost Rs 100.
The minimum top-up amount is Rs 100 (the initial top-up must be at least Rs 100, followed by multiples of Rs 100). TopUp can be done at Metro stations or at the customer portal https://oneview.prepaid.sbi.
