A shocking twist has emerged in the case of a 17-year-old girl who had earlier claimed that she was sexual assault in a washroom during a friend’s birthday party. According to police sources, the minor girl—who was three and a half months pregnant—initially reported that an unknown boy had sexual assault her at her friend Sunita’s birthday party. However, when the police asked for details about Sunita, she was unable to provide any information. Growing suspicious, the police questioned her again with confidence-building measures, after which she confessed that two boys from her neighborhood had sexually assaulted her.

Based on her statement, the police arrested two boys, aged 18 and 17, from Thane for the crime.

As per police officials, the matter came to light when the girl’s mother noticed her suffering from severe stomach pain and illness. Concerned about her health, she took her to a local doctor in Thane district. Medical tests later confirmed that the girl was pregnant.

Fearing social stigma, the girl’s mother decided to keep the matter under wraps. She informed her family and neighbors that she was taking her daughter to her maternal home, but instead, she admitted her to a government hospital in Mumbai for further treatment. Since the girl was a minor, the doctors immediately alerted the local police, who then recorded her statement and launched an investigation.

A senior police officer stated, “We sensed something was wrong and decided to question the girl again in the absence of her mother. It was then that she revealed that an 18-year-old boy from her neighborhood had committed the crime. She also disclosed that her brother was aware of the incident.”

Following this revelation, the police detained the 18-year-old accused. During further investigations, it was discovered that another 17-year-old boy from the same area had also sexually assaulted the girl. An official further said that the matter has been transferred to the concerned police station for further action in the matter.
