A 22-year-old youth was brutally stabbed to death in Chembur following a dispute. The RCF police have registered a murder case and arrested two youths in connection with the crime on Tuesday. The victim and the accused belong to the same locality. Following a minor altercation, the accused attacked the youth with a knife. Police have confirmed that further investigation is underway.

The deceased has been identified as Vighnesh Narayan Chandle (22), a resident of Chandle House in Chembur’s Wadavali village. Acting on a complaint filed by his brother, Prathamesh Chandle, the RCF police have registered a case under IPC sections 103(1), 352, 351(2), 3(5), and sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act. A special police team was immediately formed, leading to the arrest of Sumit Ambure (21) and Omkar More (22) on Tuesday.

According to the complaint, Vighnesh Chandle had an argument with Sumit Ambure and Omkar More, which escalated into a serious dispute. On the day of the incident, both accused confronted Vighnesh near the Jari Mari Mata temple in Wadavali village, where another heated exchange took place. During the altercation, the accused allegedly abused and threatened to kill him. Subsequently, Omkar More attacked Vighnesh with a sharp weapon, stabbing him in the chest. Vighnesh collapsed on the spot.

He was immediately rushed to Lokmanya Tilak Hospital in Sion, where doctors declared him brought dead. Upon receiving information, the RCF police swiftly reached the crime scene and launched an investigation. A special team was deployed, and both Ambure and More were nabbed from their residential locality. After their involvement in the crime was confirmed, the RCF police arrested them on Tuesday.

Forensic experts were called in to examine the crime scene, and the weapon used in the murder was recovered and seized by the police. It will soon be sent to a forensic laboratory for further examination.

Both the accused and the victim belonged to the same area, and the police have recorded the statements of several witnesses. However, initial investigations revealed that neither of the accused had any prior criminal record.
