A 23-year-old woman died by suicide at her residence in the Andheri area, after allegedly facing mental and emotional harassment in a troubled love relationship. Prior to taking the extreme step, the woman recorded a video message and left behind a three-page suicide note. Based on the mother’s complaint, Amboli Police have registered a case of abetment to suicide against the deceased’s boyfriend, who is reportedly a serving as constable in the Thane Police.

According to police officials, the FIR has been registered under Section 108 of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita based on a complaint filed by the deceased woman's 50-year-old mother. The complaint alleges that the accused sexually exploited the woman, resulting in two pregnancies and subsequent abortions. It is further claimed that the accused, who was addicted to alcohol, frequently demanded money from the woman.

The mother also stated that her daughter belonged to a different religion, which led to opposition from the accused’s family regarding their marriage.

The woman was residing in Andheri with her mother and sister. On the day of the incident, her mother had gone to a church for prayers. In her absence, the young woman reportedly used a scarf to hang herself from the ceiling fan. When the mother returned home, she found the door locked from the inside. With the help of neighbors, the door was broken open, and the woman was found hanging.

She was immediately rushed to Cooper Hospital in Juhu, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

During a search of the deceased’s phone, the mother discovered a video recorded by her daughter, which was addressed to her boyfriend but had not been sent. Fearing the video might be deleted, the mother forwarded it to the accused herself.

The woman also left behind a three-page handwritten note detailing her relationship with the accused. In the letter, she described the emotional turmoil she had gone through, including repeated financial exploitation for alcohol, and being pressured for mobile sex and to send obscene pictures.

Following the complaint, Amboli Police registered a case against the accused on Wednesday. The accused, who reportedly lives with his aunt due to the absence of his parents, was also facing opposition to the relationship from both his aunt and sister, the complaint added.

Further investigation is underway.
