Mumbai Accident: 65-Year-Old Man Killed After Being Hit by Speeding Bike in Goregaon
A 65-year-old man, identified as Bindeshwar Ramanugrah Pandit, tragically lost his life after being hit by a speeding bike while he was on his way to a temple. The Bangur Nagar Police have registered a case against the 22-year-old biker, identified as Piere Abrances, for negligent driving. The police took the accused into custody for questioning soon after filing the case.
According to police reports, the incident occurred around 9 PM on Saturday at Link Road near the Kalapoornam showroom in Goregaon.
Bindeshwar Pandit lived with his wife Meena and daughter Vandana Pandit, an interior designer, in the Motilal Nagar area of Goregaon. On Saturday night, the family had dinner together, after which Bindeshwar Pandit left to visit the nearby Sanskardham Temple. While he was on his way, a speeding biker hit him near the southbound lane of the Kalapoornam showroom. Pandit sustained severe injuries in the accident.
With the help of the biker and other bystanders, Pandit was rushed to the nearby Prarthana Hospital in a rickshaw. Due to the seriousness of his injuries, he was admitted to the ICU. Despite ongoing treatment, he succumbed to his injuries at around 3:45 AM on Sunday.
Upon receiving information about the accident, the Bangur Nagar Police reached the spot immediately. Based on a complaint filed by Vandana Pandit, the police registered a case against Piere Abrances under charges of negligent driving leading to the death of an elderly person. The accused was later taken into police custody for further investigation.
