Mumbai Accident: Woman Killed, Two Injured as CISF Jawan’s Vehicle Hits Auto in Goregaon

Mumbai, Maharashtra (April 4, 2025): A woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a road accident in Goregaon on the Western Expressway. The accident occurred under the Vanrai police station limits when a vehicle driven by a CISF jawan collided with an auto-rickshaw. The collision caused severe damage to the auto-rickshaw. The auto driver and the woman’s two daughters were injured in the crash. They are currently receiving treatment at a hospital. The incident took place during the night of April 3, when the CISF vehicle, driven by Dhundram Yadav, was heading towards Malad and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. Relatives of the deceased woman have alleged that the accident occurred due to drunken driving and the CISF vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road.

The Vanrai police have registered a case under sections 105, 106(1), 281, 125(a), 125(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and sections 184, 185, 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act. The police are continuing their investigation into the accident.

In a separate incident, two people were killed after a speeding taxi collided head-on with a car on Elphinstone Bridge on Senapati Bapat Marg in Lower Parel around noon on March 29. The crash was so severe that the taxi was completely crushed. The taxi driver and a female passenger died at the scene.

Police began investigating the crash. The exact cause is still unknown, but officials believe the lack of a divider on the bridge and high vehicle speed contributed to the severity of the accident. The crash occurred near several corporate offices, where thousands of employees commute daily. Since it was a Saturday, traffic was lighter than usual. Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding played a role in the crash.
