The Deputy Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation, Manish Joshi, said, “Bullet Train Authority told us that there is an illegal settlement here. But even before that, Municipal Corporation had begun action. Earlier, too, Thane Municipal Corporation had tried to take action, but it faced protests. Today, we have senior officials from the Collector Office with us here. Illegal buildings on the route of the bullet train project will be completely demolished today.”
The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited announced earlier this month that the ongoing bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad has made significant progress, with the completion of 386 km of pier foundation and 272 km of viaduct out of a total length of 508 km as of February 27, 2025. The company also noted that track-laying work has not yet begun.
