Mumbai Airport Customs Seize Rs 17.89 Crore Worth Cocaine, Passenger Arrested

In a major crackdown on drug smuggling, Customs officers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport, Mumbai, seized 1.789 kg of suspected cocaine valued at approximately ₹17.89 crore on April 1. One passenger has been arrested in connection with the case.

Acting on intelligence and spot profiling, Customs officers intercepted a passenger who had arrived in Mumbai from Nairobi via Doha (QR1342/6E1304). During a detailed baggage check, officials discovered a white powdered substance, suspected to be cocaine, concealed in a false cavity of a trolley bag. The substance, weighing 1,789 grams, was confirmed to be high-purity cocaine.

Following the seizure, the passenger was taken into custody and booked under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. Further investigations are underway to ascertain links to international drug syndicates.

Authorities have intensified surveillance at Mumbai Airport to curb drug trafficking, emphasizing their commitment to stringent action against narcotics smuggling.
