The 38-day-old baby's kidnapping case has been solved by Mumbai police, who have located a major gang that engages in child abduction. On March 11, police said four suspects, including two women, had been taken into custody. The four accused were going to sell the baby for 5 lakh rupees. The incident happened in Mumbai’s Goregaon area. The child’s parents filed a missing person report on March 2.

DCP Smita Patil says, "A 38-day-old baby was kidnapped in Mumbai's Vanrai Police Station area. The family, from Gujarat, had come to sell blankets. After selling blankets, they were going back to Vasai. They were resting at a stop, and the next morning, they discovered their baby was missing. The police formed six detection teams.”

She said that on investigating the incident, Police learnt that an auto rickshaw driver took the infant with him. After tracing the auto rickshaw, they got to know that the vehicle was registered in the Malvani region. After tracing the exact location, three teams reached the spot and got the baby back.

DCP said, “In this case, four accused have been arrested. The intention of kidnapping the child was child trafficking. They were going to sell the newborn for Rs 5 lakh.”

Speaking about the background of the accused, she said that one man is a plumber, and the other man is an auto driver. The two women are into the housekeeping business.

The successful rescue of the 38-day-old infant and the apprehension of four suspects implicated in a broader child trafficking conspiracy were the results of the Mumbai police's prompt intervention. Their actions not only brought the baby back to the family but also revealed a deadly network that was active in the area.
