Mumbai: Cyber Police Register FIR Over Online Piracy of Bollywood Film ‘Chhava

The South Region Cyber Police has registered an FIR in connection with the online piracy of the Bollywood film Chhava, which has been making waves at the box office. The complaint was filed by Rajat Rahul Haksar, CEO of August Entertainment. According to the complaint, the film was illegally streamed on various platforms, violating copyright laws.

 

As per source, the FIR has been registered under Sections 316(2) and 308(3) of the BNS, along with Sections 51, 63, and 65(A) of the Copyright Act, and Sections 43 and 66 of the IT Act. The complaint states that the film was illegally circulated across 1,818 internet links on various digital platforms.

 

Following its theatrical release, Chhava performed exceptionally well at the box office. However, soon after, pirated versions of the film started circulating on social media and multiple internet links. A thorough monitoring process was conducted to track its illegal distribution, and a written complaint was submitted to the Cyber Crime Branch.

 

Based on this complaint, the South Region Cyber Police registered an FIR, and further investigation is being carried out by the police.
