Mumbai DCP Sudhakar Pathare Dies in Road Accident Near Hyderabad

Mumbai, Maharashtra (March 29, 2025): Mumbai’s Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Pathare died in a road accident on Saturday near Hyderabad. His car collided with a truck while he was traveling from Srisailam to Nagar Kurnool in Telangana. He died on the spot. Contractor Bhagwat Khodke from Parbhani, who was traveling with him, also lost his life in the crash.

Mumbai Police confirmed the news and expressed deep sorrow over his passing. "Mumbai Police is deeply saddened to announce the untimely demise of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhakar Pathare in a tragic road accident near Hyderabad today. DCP Pathare was a dedicated officer who served with commitment and integrity. His contributions in maintaining law and order in the Mumbai Port Zone and earlier in Navi Mumbai were invaluable. His loss leaves a profound void in our ranks," the Mumbai Police Commissioner’s office wrote on X.

The department extended condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, adding, "The Mumbai Police force stands together in mourning the loss of one of its finest officers. We pray the departed soul rests in peace."

Who Was Sudhakar Pathare?

Pathare was a 2011-batch IPS officer and was serving as the Deputy Commissioner of Police in Mumbai’s Port Zone. He had recently traveled to Hyderabad for training. Pathare began his career after clearing competitive exams. In 1995, he became a district special audit officer. In 1996, he was selected as a sales tax officer. In 1998, he joined the police service as a Deputy Superintendent. He served in multiple locations including Pandharpur, Akluj, Kolhapur, and Rajura.
