A case of fraud has been registered at Sahar Police Station against the owner of an entertainment company for allegedly failing to pay ₹1.38 crore to a five-star hotel near the airport after organizing a New Year’s Eve party.
The hotel management had lodged a complaint alleging that the company duped them by not paying the agreed amount of ₹1.78 crore for the event.
The Agreement
Every year, a grand New Year’s Eve party is organized at the five-star hotel in Andheri East. In October 2024, the owner of the event management company met with the hotel’s general manager multiple times to finalize the arrangements. On December 20, an agreement was signed between the hotel and the company.
As per the agreement, the hotel was to provide the venue, food, beverages, security, and necessary licenses for the event. In return, the event management company agreed to pay ₹1.78 crore to the hotel. The responsibility of arranging artists, production, and ticket sales was entrusted to the event company.
Ticket Sales and Free Entry
The agreement also stated that 500 people would be given complimentary passes for the event—250 guests from the hotel and 250 from the event company. Apart from this, 350 tickets were sold for the party.
The event company was supposed to clear the hotel’s dues before the party. However, despite repeated assurances, only ₹40.50 lakh was paid. The remaining amount of ₹1.38 crore is still pending, the complaint mentioned.
Police Investigation Underway
Following a complaint by the hotel’s general manager, Sahar Police have registered a case of cheating against the event management company owner. Police officials confirmed that an investigation is underway to recover the pending dues and ascertain the details of the alleged fraud.
Further updates on the case are awaited as the probe continues.
