On Monday night, a fire broke out in the Mandala section of Mankhurd, killing a 10-year-old girl and severely burning another woman. When the Mumbai Fire Brigade was notified of the event at 8:20 PM, police officers, fire engines, and an ambulance were sent to the scene.
According to the information provided by my fire control room, at least six injuries have been reported. The injured were transported to Shatabdi Hospital on Govandi, which is managed by the BMC, reported Free Press Journal. Only one death and one injury have been confirmed by the BMC as of the time this report was filed.
"As per information recieved from Shatabdi hospital, Khushi Khan (10) was brought dead and Farah Khan (25) has recieved 70% burns and admitted in critical condition," the BMC stated in a statement.
According to initial reports, a cylinder blast in Janata Nagar, behind Hanuman Temple in Mankhurd Mandala, appears to have caused the fire. The fire was put out at approximately 8:40 PM. The local police, ambulance services, and ward personnel were also called to the scene in addition to the Mumbai Fire Brigade.
