The Bangur Nagar Police have arrested a man who sexually exploited a Hollywood actress under the pretext of marriage and later absconded. According to police sources, the accused fled after a case was registered against him. However, after an extensive search, he was finally nabbed from Chandigarh. A local court in Borivali has remanded him to police custody.
The 55-year-old victim, a resident of Malad, is a Hollywood actress who started her career in modeling and later worked in several Hollywood, Bollywood, and Tamil films and TV serials. She is a transgender woman who underwent post-operation transition and is also a trained classical dancer.
A few months ago, she came into contact with the 30-year-old accused through social media. Their acquaintance soon turned into a close friendship, and they remained in touch through mobile and social media. The accused introduced himself as an assistant director. In January, the victim traveled to Delhi, where she met him in person. During this meeting, he proposed marriage, and she accepted his proposal.
Following this, they engaged in a physical relationship multiple times. The accused consistently used marriage as an excuse to get intimate with her. However, when the victim later refused to continue the relationship, tensions arose between them, and the accused left her house.
When she later inquired about their marriage plans, the accused began avoiding her, giving vague excuses and ignoring her calls. Realizing that she had been deceived, she approached Bangur Nagar Police and filed a complaint. Based on her statement, police registered a case against the accused for sexual exploitation under the pretext of marriage.
After the case was registered, police summoned the accused for questioning, but he failed to appear. This prompted an investigation, and police launched a manhunt. During the probe, they received intelligence that he was hiding in Chandigarh. Acting swiftly, a police team reached Chandigarh and detained him.
Following his arrest, the accused was brought to Mumbai, where he was presented before the court. The court has remanded him to police custody for further investigation.
