A shocking incident of burglary has come to light at the residence of a professor from Sion Hospital. An unidentified thief broke into her house and fled with gold and diamond-studded jewellery worth approximately Rs47 lakh. The Dindoshi police have registered a case of burglary and launched an investigation based on CCTV footage to track down the accused.
The burglary took place between 9:30 PM on March 18 and 5:15 AM on March 19 at a bungalow in Malad. The complainant, a 46-year-old woman, resides there with her family. She works as a professor at Sion Hospital, while her husband is an engineer. She also had some diamond-studded gold jewellery belonging to her mother-in-law and her father-in-law’s aunt, which she had safely kept in her wardrobe.
On the night of March 18, the entire family had dinner and went to sleep. However, at around 5:15 AM on March 19, the professor woke up and came downstairs, only to find that the back door of the bungalow was broken open. The lock and latch were damaged, and the door was left open. Upon inspecting the house, she noticed that the wardrobes were ransacked, and jewellery worth around Rs47 lakh was missing.
As soon as the incident came to light, the professor immediately informed her husband and other family members before calling the Mumbai Police control room. The Dindoshi Police promptly reached the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the bungalow. Preliminary investigation confirmed that the burglar had entered the house through the ground-floor door and stolen the valuable ornaments.
A case of burglary has been registered against an unidentified person based on the professor’s complaint. The police have also obtained CCTV footage from the area and are analyzing it to identify and nab the accused.
The investigation is currently underway.
