Mumbai: Kalyan Minor Rape-Murder Accused Vishal Gawli Found Hanging In Taloja Jail, Lawyer Alleges Foul Play

Vishal Gawli, the accused arrested in connection with the kidnapping and murder of a minor girl in Kalyan, was found dead in the toilet of Taloja Jail. Jail authorities have reported that Gawli died by suicide, using a towel to hang himself. His body is currently being transported from Taloja Jail to JJ Hospital for post-mortem examination.  

The circumstances surrounding Gawli's death have raised serious concerns, particularly from his legal counsel. Advocate Sanjay Dhanke has vehemently disputed the jail authorities' claim of suicide, stating, "He couldn’t have committed suicide. If he wanted to, he would have done it earlier. He has been in jail for three months now. Before this, I spoke to him about 20-25 days ago. It was a normal conversation. He said, 'If I did it, or if I am proven guilty, I will accept the punishment the court gives me.'"  

Dhanke has indicated that the defense team intends to file a formal complaint against the jail administration, alleging potential negligence or foul play. "We will file a case against the jail administration," he asserted, demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.

The death of Vishal Gawli inside Taloja Jail adds a complex layer to the ongoing legal proceedings surrounding the heinous crime he was accused of. The incident has now triggered demands for transparency and accountability from the jail authorities. The investigation into Gawli's death is expected to proceed alongside the continued legal processes related to the original kidnapping and murder case.
