A local train heading to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) derailed at Kalyan Station on platform 2. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries among passengers or railway staff. This incident occurred at Kalyan railway station when the last coach of a Mumbai-bound local train derailed at around 8:55 PM. This derailment created confusion among passengers heading to the second platform, affecting both those traveling towards Mumbai and those arriving from other routes.
As the passengers of the derailed train disembarked, many quickly moved to platform four to catch another local train and continue their journey. Meanwhile, passengers arriving from areas such as Khadavli, Asangaon, and Titwala experienced delays due to the disruption.
Despite the derailment, train services on other routes remained operational, although the speed of local trains passing through the affected area from Dombivli was reduced as a precaution. Track maintenance personnel promptly arrived at the scene to help reposition the derailed coach. Passengers were kept informed about the situation through announcements made at the station.
The derailment has left passengers from the Punjab Mail stranded at the railway station and caused significant delays for other local and express trains at Kalyan, a major junction.
