Mumbai local train services are running behind schedule on the Western Line on Wednesday, April 16, due to speed restrictions imposed between Bandra and Mahim stations. The train will run with a speed limit of 20-30 kilometres per hour placed on trains crossing the Mithi River.
The limit will gradually improved to 45 kilometres per hour by the end of the week. The Western Railway (WR) carried out the work on old rail bridge over the Mithi River. The bridge build during the British era, had cast iron screw piles supporting the tracks. These were replaced with modern steel girders.
The Divisional Railway Manager of the Mumbai Division of Western Railway said, "Suburban trains on the Mumbai Western line are running 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule due to a speed restriction between Bandra and Mahim stations. We apologize for any inconvenience."
