Local train services on the Central Line ran 30 to 40 minutes late on Saturday morning, December 14, due to a technical fault between Kalyan and Kasara railway stations. According to the information, trains on both UP and DOWN lines were distrusted in the early hours of Saturday.
Morning travellers and officegoers are facing delays due to the impact on local train services. According to reports, several trains were halted between Kalyan and Kasara stations due to a glitch in Tata Power's electricity on the Central line division of Mumbai local. In addition to local trains, express trains have also been delayed.
It is also reported that due to a lack of power supply, both the up- and down-routes between Kalyan and Kasara are closed. A huge rush of passengers is seen at the local stations of Kalyan, Kasara, and Karjat. Local trains have been seen parked at every railway station, including Kasara, Asangaon, and Titwala of the Central Railway.
However, Tata Power said there were no faults in their services and that they were working on restoration. “There was no fault or problem from our side. We are investigating the matter. We are working on restoration,” said Tata Power.
Tata Power Clarifies Supply Disruption at Central Railway's Chola Substation
Tata Power issued a statement regarding the power disruption at Central Railway’s Chola substation, caused by a lightning arrestor failure on the Kalyan line at 6:01 AM. Efforts by Central Railway to restore supply without isolating the fault led to sparking on an alternate line, resulting in a complete shutdown of the substation, affecting a 30 MW load. Despite the disruption, Tata Power maintained supply availability on one line. Power was restored at 6:50 AM after Central Railway isolated the faulty equipment. Tata Power clarified that the disruption originated from the railway’s equipment failure.
