Mumbai: Man Arrested for Misbehaving with Woman Police Officer and Obstructing Government Duty
Mumbai’s Mankhurd police have arrested Mohammad Sharif Mohammad Salim Sheikh, alias Guddu, for obstructing police duty, misbehaving with a woman police officer, using obscene language, and issuing death threats.
The incident took place late Sunday night around 11:15 PM near Ekvira Hotel Road, PMGP Colony, Mankhurd. The complainant, a 30-year-old woman officer, is currently serving as a Police Sub-Inspector at the Mankhurd Police Station and resides in the Koparkhairane area of Navi Mumbai.
According to reports, a special team from Mankhurd Police was patrolling the area when they found Mohammad Sharif running a footwear business despite restrictions. When the police instructed him to close the shop, he resisted and started arguing with them.
His wife, Kajal, also joined him in abusing and pushing the officers, even as they were in uniform. Despite repeated warnings, the duo continued their unruly behavior. During the confrontation, Sharif reportedly used obscene language towards the woman officer and threatened her, saying, “Many police officers like you have come and gone. Don’t mess with me, or I will kill you.”
Following this, the police took both Sharif and his wife into custody using necessary force.
Based on the woman officer’s complaint, Mankhurd police registered a case against the accused under various charges, including outraging a woman’s modesty, using obscene language, obstructing government work, and threatening a public servant. After registering the case, police arrested Mohammad Sharif alias Guddu.
Further investigation is underway.
