Mumbai: Man Threatens Former Female Colleague Over Blocked Number; Gun and Bullets Found in His Bag

A 23-year-old woman was threatened with death by a former colleague who barged into her office after she blocked his mobile number. The Kandivali Police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Deepak Arya, under various sections of the BNS, including possession of deadly weapons. Arya fled the scene but left behind his bag, which contained a gun and three live bullets.

The complainant, who resides in Malad with her parents, works at a private company in Kandivali that provides staffing services such as waiters, housekeeping, and security to star-rated hotels in Mumbai. Her responsibilities include interviewing candidates, arranging accommodation, and managing staff placements. Deepak Arya, a resident of Nainital, Uttarakhand, joined the company in March 2024 as a supervisor. Over time, both developed a close friendship due to working together. However, after six months, Arya quit his job and returned to his hometown, though they remained in contact.

According to the police, Arya started mentally harassing the woman, prompting her to block his number. On Monday, February 10, while the woman was at work, Arya arrived at the office, abused her using obscene language, and argued with her for blocking his number. When she asked him to leave the office, Arya pushed her and threatened to kill her if she refused to answer his calls. He also warned her of dire consequences if she approached the police and then left the office.

Frightened by the incident, the woman immediately informed the Kandivali Police. The police rushed to the spot and recorded her statement. During the investigation, they found a gun and three live bullets in the bag Arya had left behind. Subsequently, the police registered a case against Arya for illegal possession of firearms, criminal intimidation, and trespassing.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are searching for the accused.
