Mumbai Monsoon 2025: 482 Pumps To Be Installed to Prevent Train Delays Due to Waterlogging

To prevent water from accumulating in low-lying areas during the monsoon, measures should be taken by jointly inspecting such places. Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani instructed all the agencies to take precautions so that the suburban railway service continues uninterrupted.

In view of the need for coordination between various agencies in the backdrop of the monsoon, a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Gagrani. On this occasion, Director of the Emergency Management Department Mahesh Narvekar and officers of the National Disaster Response Team gave information about the preparations for the monsoon.

Pumps at 482 places for water pumping

Pumps will be installed at 482 places this year also to pump water in low-lying areas. Geo tagging should be used for this. The Commissioner suggested that action should be taken against the responsible persons if a pump does not work in time.

‘Take precautions to avoid diseases’

Necessary measures should be taken by coordinating properly at the collector level in places where there is a risk of landslides in the eastern suburbs. The Health Department, Pest Control Department and major hospitals and medical colleges should take preventive measures in the backdrop of the monsoon. The Commissioner also directed that special precautions be taken to prevent the spread of water-borne diseases and epidemics.
