Mumbai: Mulund Station Master Caught Accepting ₹9,000 Bribe In Sting Operation
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the Station Master of Mulund, a Mumbai suburban railway station, for demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹9,000. The arrest followed a complaint filed with the CBI alleging that the Station Master had demanded a bribe from a complainant who managed parking operations at Mulund Railway Station on behalf of a private company.
According to a CBI statement, "In February 2025, the accused Station Master of Mulund Railway Station allegedly approached the complainant at the parking and demanded ₹10,000 per month as a bribe. In exchange, he promised to ensure smooth operations and resolve any complaints against the complainant or the parking facility." The statement further detailed, "The accused continued to pressure the complainant for monthly bribe payments. He also allegedly imposed penalties on two occasions for minor infractions, further harassing the complainant for non-payment. After negotiations, the accused agreed to accept a bribe of ₹9,000 per month."
The CBI set up a trap and apprehended the Station Master red-handed while he was accepting the ₹9,000 bribe through a sweeper working at the same station.A case has been registered, and further investigation is ongoing.
