Mumbai: NCB Cracks Down on Secret Drug Lab, Seizes Rs 50 Crore Worth of MD
The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) dismantled a clandestine drug lab and seized 46.8 kg of Mephedrone (MD). The value of the seized drugs is around Rs 50 crore. This operation was carried out by the NCB on March 22, 2025. Two people were arrested from Bhandup in this case, reported PTI.
This operation was carried out by the officials of NCB under the Nasha Mukt Bharat program of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and as per the directives of the Union Home Minister to curb the drug network across India.
After getting intelligence inputs, the NCB officials conducted a raid inside a residential locality of Bhandup. There, they found 46.8 kg of white powdery substance called MD. The drug was sealed in a plastic container at the residence of one of the accused.
When the officials interrogated the accused, he said that the narcotic substance was manufactured in a secret laboratory located in the Mahad Industrial Area in Raigad. After this NCB raided the Mahad facility and seized suspicious chemicals. It is being said that those chemicals were used to manufacture MD.
PTI reported that after investigating the whole case, officials came to know that the accused had two previous cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). The accused was out on bail when this operation was being carried out.
The authorities are investigating this case deeply and will soon trace the links in the drug trade and arrest each individual involved in this racket.
