Mumbai: Office Boy Arrested for Stealing ₹40 Lakh From Bollywood Music Composer Pritam's Studio

A team of Malad Police has arrested an office boy who fled after stealing ₹40 lakh in cash from the Goregaon studio of renowned Bollywood music composer Pritam Chakraborty. The accused, identified as Ashish Sayal, was apprehended in Jammu and Kashmir, and police have recovered ₹38 lakh from his possession. He has been brought to Mumbai for further investigation.

According to the police, Vinit Chandrakant Cheda, a resident of Kandivali's Dahanukarwadi area, has been working as a manager for Pritam Chakraborty for the past two years. Pritam owns a music studio, Unimus Records Pvt. Ltd., located in Goregaon, where Ashish Sayal had been working as an office boy for seven years.

On February 4, around 2 PM, an employee of film producer Madhu Santana delivered ₹40 lakh in cash to Pritam's office. Vinit Cheda received the amount and placed it in a trolley bag. At that time, Ashish Sayal, along with Ahmed Khan and Kamal Disha, was present in the studio. After securing the cash, Vinit went to Pritam’s apartment in the same building for some paperwork. However, upon returning to the studio, he found the trolley bag missing.

When questioned, Ahmed Khan informed Vinit that Ashish Sayal had taken the bag to Pritam’s residence. However, Ashish did not answer Vinit’s calls and later switched off his phone.

Realizing that Ashish had fled with the cash, Vinit immediately informed Pritam, who advised him to lodge a police complaint. Following this, Vinit approached Malad Police, and a case of theft was registered against Ashish Sayal.

During the investigation, police tracked Ashish’s location to Jammu and Kashmir. Acting swiftly, a special team from Malad Police was dispatched, and on Wednesday, they successfully arrested Ashish along with ₹38 lakh in stolen cash. Further investigations are underway.
