A state of panic gripped the Girgaon area after an email claimed that a bomb had been placed inside a well-known pet clinic and could explode at any moment. However, after a thorough inspection, the police confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax. Following the incident, the Gamdevi police registered a case against an unidentified person for spreading terror through the threat email. The local police, along with the Crime Branch, are investigating the matter.
According to the police, Prakash, a resident of Thane, works at Pet Clinic located at Gamdevi. On Sunday, the clinic received an email from an unidentified sender threatening to blow up the premises. Alarmed by the email, the clinic staff immediately informed their senior officials and the Gamdevi police.
Upon receiving the complaint, police teams rushed to the spot and evacuated the entire clinic. The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS), along with a dog squad, conducted a thorough search of the premises. However, no suspicious objects were found, confirming that the bomb threat was merely a hoax.
Following the incident, clinic staff heaved a sigh of relief. Based on the complainant’s statement, the police registered a case against the unknown sender under relevant sections for issuing bomb threats and creating an atmosphere of fear. The investigation is ongoing to trace the culprit behind the hoax email.
